Funeral Friday for NAACP head

The funeral for the Rev. John Stewart Jr., head of the Gwinnett County NAACP chapter, will be 11 a.m. Friday. The service will be at Central Baptist Church, 4550 Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn, said Audrey Scott, the second vice president of the chapter. Stewart, 49, died Saturday of an apparent asthma attack. Stewart leaves behind his wife, JeJuan, the chapter's secretary, and four children, Scott said.
