Wolf advocates say they embody a kind of wildness that’s disappearing from the Northwest, but foes say the animal is a symbol of everything that’s wrong with government-led species protection. As Idaho moves closer to full state management of wolves, Elizabeth Wynne Johnson went in search of a better understanding of what’s at stake.
