In recent weeks, panel makers have subsequently begun to disclose their financial results for the third quarter. AU Optronics (AUO) and Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO), Taiwan's top panel makers, have both indicated that TFT LCD panels are beginning to see their applications shift from IT products to the consumer electronics (CE) segment. As CE products are more susceptible to seasonal changes, panel makers must be even more careful in managing their inventory levels and production expansion, according to research firm WitsView Technology.
