CANUCKS PLAY DOWN SEARCH FOR GOALTENDER

Vancouver Canucks general manager David Nonis put himself in position to make a trade for a goaltender to replace injured Dan Cloutier yesterday, while simultaneously playing down the possibility.Nonis put Cloutier, who is out for at least four months with a knee injury, on the National Hockey League's long-term injury list. That cleared $2.45-million (all figures U.S.) of room under the $39-million salary cap.
