Filed under: Breast Cancer Epidemiologists at the Northern California Cancer Center have found that sunlight exposure can lower the risk of breast cancer by 30 to 40 percent in some individuals. In The Breast Cancer Prevention Diet, Dr. Robert Arnot states that breast cancer occurs in much higher instances in cloudy, Northern climates than in Southern, sunny regions. Sunlight triggers a chain of reactions beginning with hormone production that interacts with cholesterol to induce the the liver and kidneys to produce Vitamin D3, a steroid hormone that not only improves the immune system, and aids in calcium absorption but, most importantly, inhibits cancer cell growth.
