It is quite telling that on the historic occasion of Israel's pullout from the Gaza Strip, Israelis and Palestinians were unable to achieve even the symbolic gesture of cooperation. Yesterday, a ceremony in which Israel was supposed to formally hand over control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority was cancelled amid bitter disputes and recriminations.
