Smith & Nephew leads FTSE lower; FP bucks trend

LONDON (Reuters) - The country's biggest shares were led lower by Smith & Nephew on Tuesday after the medical devices maker surprised investors with a bearish trading update and as heavyweight oils tracked crude prices lower, although upbeat results lifted Friends Provident .
