Alternative cancer treatment for teen

Filed under: Childhood, Alternative Therapies A 13 yr. old girl from Texas goes home after undergoing alternative therapies for Hodgkin's disease. We reported in June about this case, and now there is an interesting follow-up to it. She had multiple intravenous Vitamin C treatments at The Center for the Improvement of Human Functioning International in Witchita, Kansas. After her parents went through an arduous battle with their local Child Protective Services over whether Katie Wernecke should undergo the uncomfortable chemotherapy for which the state advocatged. Katie's parents fought a battle for their daughter and won. She is home now, and planning to continue with the alternative therapy, diet changes, and PET scans, which will help keep the cancer of her lymph nodes at bay.
