Egyptians are looking to Mubarak to lay the groundwork for a better future

During the course of his campaign, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, who has advertised himself as a man of the people, has promised to build a "bridge to the future." As the votes in Egypt's first-ever contested presidential election are being counted today, one hopes that Mubarak is reflecting on how he will implement his campaign pledges.
