You can count on one hand the number of British Columbia restaurant chains that have successfully expanded into Eastern Canada. So when the White Spot group of restaurants says it is doing ''due diligence'' on moving into Ontario and Quebec, one has to ask the question, why? The last big burger restaurant to expand from Western Canada was AandW. But that was more than 50 years ago, and it started in California before opening its first store in Winnipeg.
