Another provider gets into the NYC WiFi act

Filed under: WiFi, MAN - muni, Business Although a plan to develop and deploy a wireless network throughout New York City is in the earliest of discussion stage, other companies are looking to provide service to various parts of the city in the meantime. In this case, Microwave Satellite Technologies is announcing it will provide its NuVisions wireless service in Central Park and surrounding areas by leveraging MIMO technology (multiple antennas). The NuVisions WiFi network is free for the company's broadband subscribers, and costs $9.99 for 10 hours and $29.99 per month for non-subscribers. A number of the antennas are placed on various Trump properties so, of course, "The Donald" is getting a piece of the action. (Could it be that Mr. Trump may eventually get involved in the development of a wireless network that covers the entire city? Could be a job for the next "Apprentice"...)
