New European Apple patent for networked media station

Filed under: Apple New details on a European Apple patent being granted have recently appeared. The device in question is a "networked media station". Patent US2005273790 describes a new networked media station that includes a wireless network interface, peripheral interface and multimedia interface. I know what you're thinking; this is for the new Apple iTV and maybe we can get some more solid details on what we can expect to see in the iTV device. Unfortunately after closer review its does not appear to be the Apple iTV at all. Instead it seems to be the Airport Express, a small device which acts as a wireless router and also allows you to have your iTunes library shared throughout your household. The patent was originally filed in December 2005 and probably reflects similar filings that have appeared else where in the world such as the U.S. patent filings US20040862115 20040604. But with so many Apple patents going round its hard to keep up with what's going on. Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
