NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. posted better-than-expected quarterly earnings on Tuesday, but the world's biggest retailer promised deep holiday discounts for consumers who are still feeling pinched -- which could spell trouble for other retailers.
