Combating terror in Jordan requires a real commitment to reform

When Jordan's King Abdullah II appointed his former security chief as prime minister and granted him a mandate to launch an all-out war on Islamic militancy, the monarch was very careful to pay the all-important lip service to reform. Premier Maarouf Bakhit, it was said, will also be tasked with forming a new government that will promote political and economic change. Reform, it seems, is one of Abdullah's favorite buzzwords.
