Turn enters online ad fray

Filed under: Online, Networks There's a new player in town in the online advertising game. Turn, Inc. is making a splash by claiming their system is both simpler to use than things like AdWords as well as more resistant to click-fraud. That's because Turn's system works on cost-per-action (CPA) rather than cost-per-click. CPA allows the advertiser to define an action that must be done before they pay the network, a portion of which then gets sent to the publisher hosting the ad. Actions can range from signing up for more information to actually making a purchase. The point is that these actions are more complex than simply clicking on the ad, which is what CPC is based on. That means it has to be a human doing it and can't be a robot, which can execute a simple click. Right now Turn is just beginning to roll out their system but already have 1,000 advertisers signed up for the initial test. Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
