Concerns rise over continued violations along Lebanese-Syrian border
3rd Oct 2005, 20:31 GMT
Smuggling operations across the Lebanese-Syrian border have increased recently, due to the nature of the terrain and a lack of adequate control by the two concerned states, security sources say. The sources said that the porous borders between Lebanon and Syria have encouraged various "mafias" to coordinate organized smuggling of people, drugs, stolen vehicles and military equipment.
