UCLA's Vanden Eykel Retires From Gymnastics

UCLA sophomore Lindsey Vanden Eykel has retired from gymnastics, Bruin head coach Valorie Kondos Field announced Friday. After undergoing surgery on August 17 on her right shoulder for a labrum tear, Vanden Eykel was advised by her surgeon that continuing to train in gymnastics could cause irreparable damage to her shoulder due to chronic degeneration of the underlying bone.
