Toppling walls of race and gender, Iraq's Hadid builds for the future

Success came early and, most recently in the shape of a Pritzker prize, has continued for Baghdad-born architect Zaha Hadid, chosen to build an extravagantly futuristic bridge pavilion for Expo 2008 in the Spanish city of Zaragoza. London-based Hadid has made a name for herself across the globe with her gravity-defying and sometimes hedonistic take on spatial perception.
