(Reuters) - Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Director Tony Tether presents a medal to Stanford Racing Team leader Sebastian Thrun (R) after Stanford's entry was declared winner of the DARPA 2005 Grand Challenge in Primm, Nevada October 9, 2005. Some 23 robotic ground vehicles started the 241 km (150 mile) desert road test, but only five finished it. Stanford's winning entry, which was named 'Stanley', posted a time of 6:53:53.
