eBay-MercExchange row puts focus on inadequate patent laws
30th Mar 2006, 13:02 GMT
After Research in Motion, it's eBay's turn to be locked in a patent battle with MercExchange LLC. The latter has accused online auction giant eBay of using its feature that allows buyers to purchase items at a fixed cost rather than at an auction. The feature, called 'Buy It Now' on the Web site, accounted for almost one-third of the US$12 billion revenue generated through sale of goods in 2004.
