Taiwan handset shipments to decrease 5% next year, says MIC analyst

Taiwan's handset makers will see a 5% decrease in total shipments next year to 130 million units, as they will be hit by the fact that BenQ has given up the mobile division it acquired from Siemens and brand-name vendors are designing more of their entry-level models to be manufactured by EMS providers, an analyst from Taiwan's Market Intelligence Center (MIC) was cited by the Chinese-language Commercial Times as indicating.
