An electronic design automation tool developed with a particular user market in mind sometimes finds its niche in an altogether different industry. At least, that's the case for a product that won one of this year's DesignVision awards from the International Engineering Consortium at DesignCon in February. CircuitSpace Version 1.1, startup DesignAdvance Systems Inc.'s auto-interactive component-placement technology for printed-circuit boards, began as a tool for the automotive industry.
