The funny temper tantrum

13th Nov 2006, 21:00 GMT

Filed under: Media, Tantrums, Toddler, Emotions The first time Nolan had a temper tantrum, I didn't know what to do. It was completely, ridiculously funny. He was overcome with raging fury that I wouldn't let him slam a large glass bowl on the dog's head and he didn't want to be held or cajoled or smooched and I sat there helplessly wondering what was the appropriate response as he kicked the air and rolled over on the floor. I'm sure it wasn't half-hidden giggling, which is what I did. I was consulting Dr. Google on tantrums tonight when I came across this video showing a furious toddler in the midst of a full-force temper tantrum - but only when his parents are watching. When they amble casually away from him, his cries abrubtly stop and he comes looking for them - only to lay down in a fit of baby angst once he sees they are watching again. It's a pretty funny video, if only because it's evident that there is nothing wrong with the toddler, he just wants someone to watch him kvetch. As Nolan's little tantrums become more common (temporarily, I hope) I wonder if the walk-away might be an appropriate reaction. What do you do when your toddler kicks and screams over something like the sky being blue? Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
