2006年 11 月 14 日 主題：尊貴，上帝是敬拜讚美的核心 經文：願他們在民的會中尊崇他，在長老的位上讚美他！（詩篇 107 篇 32 節） 默想： Nobody else here baby No one here to blame No one to point the finger It's just you and me and the rain Nobody made you do it No one put words in your mouth Nobody here taking orders When love took a train heading south It's the blind leading the blond It's the stuff, it's the stuff of country songs Hey if God will send his angels And if God will send a sign And if God will send his angels Would everything be alright God has got his phone off the hook, babe Would he even pick up if he could It's been a while since we saw that child Hanging 'round this neighbourhood You see his mother dealing in a doorway See Father Christmas with a begging bowl Jesus sister's eyes are a blister The High Street never looked so low It's the blind leading the blond It's the cops collecting for the cons So where is the hope and where is the faith And the love...what's that you say to me Does love...light up your Christmas Tree The next minute you're blowing a fuse And the cartoon network turns into the news If God will send his angels And if God will send a sign And if God will send his angels Where do we go Where do we go Jesus never let me down You know Jesus used to show me the score Then they put Jesus in show business Now it's hard to get in the door 這是電影《X情人》裡一首非常動人的主題曲，由知名的愛爾蘭樂團「U2」所唱，歌名是〈 If God will send his angels〉，上帝會派遣祂的天使來嗎？這首搖滾界天團U2的音樂已被美國聖公會納入為正式的福音詩，全美15州、150 個教會正在傳播這首曲子，可以說蔚為風潮 。 雖然有些基督教、天主教的團體擔心教會這樣做，「會不會過分高舉了一個流行樂團」，也認為把流行音樂當作主日的詩歌，會不會讓神聖的崇拜變得太媚俗了點？不過，對年輕世代的基督徒來說，上教會、教堂時，可以唱 U2的歌，實在是非常過癮的事，有青少年說，可以邊搖滾邊敬拜，激動內心對上帝的火熱。 推動這項「U2傳福音」活動的牧師們則說，其實巴哈、韓德爾的音樂一開始不也是當時的流行音樂，現代人有自己的詩歌是理當然的；從1981的〈October〉開始，U2的音樂常常給人福音詩歌的聯想；近年來，主唱Bono在濟貧和消除愛滋病方面的善行義舉，更使得教會界的領導人給予正面的評價，U2的歌能被聖公會認可，與Bono的「好撒馬利亞人」形象多少有關。 台灣的福音歌近年來走流行風的也愈來愈多，搖滾、藍調都不稀奇了，現在連R&B都有，因著詩歌曲風的改變，許多教會連崇拜的方式也不同了，「教會裡連爵士鼓都有，真是『是可忍、孰不可忍』」，一位教會的前輩曾跟我這樣說；因著這位朋友的提醒，我才注意到，的確，有時候我們過分仰賴敬拜讚美時，透過音樂帶來的、營造的氣氛，好像上教會也成了一件要用許多人為手法創造「燈光美、氣氛佳」的事，而忘了「讓上帝與我們同在」才是這整件事情的重點──音樂，給人很棒的感覺，但它終究不能反客為主。 如何讓我們在敬拜讚美時，不被節奏強烈、弦律複雜的音樂分走了我們對神的專心，不讓自己掉入「不靠敬拜讚美就進無法崇拜」的制約裡，我認為是每位在福音歌曲流行化中認識上帝、學習與上帝親近的基督徒要自我提醒的事──U2 會不會變成新的教會偶像？我想許多牧者也在密切注意著。 在努力讓信仰生活化同時，「神聖性」仍然是不可缺席的，上帝的聖潔不能被磨損一毫一分。「但願尊貴、榮耀歸與那不能朽壞、不能看見、永世的君王、獨一的 神，直到永永遠遠。阿們！」（提摩太前書 1 章17 節）
