Nissan plans its hybrid Altima from its Smyrna plant

DETROIT: Japanese automobile major Nissan Motor Company has chosen its assembly facility at Smyrna, Tennessee, to manufacture its first hybrid car, the Altima. The vehicle will be a gas-electric version, according to a joint statement by the company's U.S. unit and the governor of Tennessee, Phil Bredesen.
