The National Hockey League's governors decided against any major changes to the rules, although four more teams may be added to the playoffs next season. After two days of meetings, the only changes to the hockey side of the league will be more video review of goals scored in shootouts and on penalty shots plus a minor change in the shootout format. This was not surprising, since so many changes to the game were introduced following the lockout, which wiped out the 2004-05 season.
