Bird flu flies to newer parts of Europe

The first case of bird flu in Britain has sent jitters in Government circles, even as the parrot said to be suffering a flu caused by the dreaded H5 strain died while in quarantine. The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs said that the parrot, a South America import had been in the country since mid-September. However, there was some confusion whether the isolated strain was the human transmittable H5N1 strain as experts opined that at least 100 varieties of H5 avian flu strains exist.
