Iraqi Parliament Reverses Controversial Election Rule Change
6th Oct 2005, 03:19 GMT
Under pressure from the U.S. and the UN the Iraqi Parliament reversed a recent change to election laws. The overturned law would have virtually assured passage of the new proposed Iraqi constitution by measuring vote percentages against registered voters rather than actual voters, effectively turning every non-voter into a YES voter. The constitutional referendum vote is scheduled for October 15th.
