Green tea to prevent prostate cancer

Early warning signs for prostate cancer can surface more than a year before the symptoms become malignant, and there is no way to treat the disease until it does become a full blown cancer. One new hope indicates that men who drink green tea during the pre-cancerous phase may be able to reduce the chance of developing a cancerous prostate. PIN, or high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, is the early phase of prostate cancer. In a study, men who drank green tea for a year during the PIN phase had a 1 in 32 rate of developing prostate cancer, while those who had a placebo tea developed the cancer at a rate of 9 in 30. The study has been so successful with prostate patients that researchers are expanding their future study categories to breast and colon cancer patients.
