Martha Stewart Who introduced Martha Stewart to Peter Bacanovic, the stock broker whose dealings would indirectly lead her to a house where dainty curtains and silver services are definitively disallowed? According to Star magazine, it was her own daughter, Alexis. Lexie and Mama Martha had for long suffered a relationship as cold as tangerine sorbet and twice as tart but not at all sweet. Seems that when Martha had an untidy divorce from hubby Andy, Alexis was daddy's girl and told Martha what she could do with her stitched hankies. However, during Martha's public ordeal of a humiliating trial leading to time in the slammer, Alexis smelled the coffee and realized that if all America loved her mom, she might as well too. She managed Martha's empire with such flair while Martha was on the wrong side of the bars, and so often visited her in prison, we hear sometimes with apple crumb betty, that Martha named her a judge on The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.
