Women can judge a good joke

Research funded by the National Institutes of Health have discovered women to enjoy a good joke more than men. Dr. Allan L. Reiss and his team at the Standford University School of Medicine reports, in a recent issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, that women enjoy a good joke more than their counterparts, because they don't necessarily think jokes are going to be funny. Results of the testing found women to feel more pleasure after they decided something was indeed funny. Less expectation of a reward and subjecting humor to more analysis, seem to be the leading causes for females' increased pleasure from humor. Laughter and humor are directly correlated to lowering blood pressure, and that's good news for your heart. Men enjoy immediate gratification in forms of slapstick and on-liners, while women tend to prefer narrative or humor in the form of stories, says Reiss. The differences between the sexes is a ceaseless topic. Read Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
