Keller going to greener pastures
7th Sep 2005, 12:21 GMT
Kingsfield is giving Thad Keller something extra to look forward to when he makes a career change later this month. For 18 years, Keller has been an assistant to trainer Don Von Hemel, and for the past few years, he has overseen Von Hemels Prairie Meadows stable. When Prairie Meadows season ends Sept. 24, Keller will go out on his own. He will go to Hawthorne Racecourse in Chicago to be the head trainer for a 17-horse stable. One of his horses will be Kingsfield, who won Mondays $40,000 Prairie Meadows Freshman Stakes.
