Iran is pursuing two nuclear paths – “a uranium path and a plutonium path” – while the rest of the world wants it to follow a third route by developing peaceful nuclear energy, a senior U.S. diplomat, Gregory Schulte, tells an audience in the United Arab Emirates. In Washington, State Department, spokesman Sean McCormack tells reporters that news reports that U.N. inspectors have found plutonium and traces of highly enriched uranium in the Iranian program “underscore[s] the fact that we need a [U.N. Security Council] resolution in order to send a strong message to the Iranians they need to change their behavior.”
