High stress jobs not so good for young men and their hearts

According to researchers in Finland, young men with stressful jobs suffer far more than their female counterparts when it comes to arterial issues. Of approximately 1,000 men and women studied, those with high stress jobs were far more likely to exhibit narrowing arteries than those who who had less stressful occupations. A study published in Psychosomatic Medicine finds that there is a connection between streesful jobs and atherosclerosis. The connection between job stress and thickening arterial walls in not entirely understood. The causes could range from the effects of stress on the nervous system to the fact that individuals with demanding jobs may not have the time or energy to exercise. The research was not as clear at to the women's lack of atherosclerosis. It could be that women are not as involved in their jobs or perhaps because they typically take time off to have children. In my private mind I wonder if it is because perhaps women are just more predisposed to dealing with stress. Mothering, working, mediating squabbling children. Our days are already filled with huge amounts of stress and over time we have just evolved into amazing stress bearing machines. But that is just my opinion....
