Stents do not reduce mortality

This article certainly got my attention, and put a chill in me. The latest studies by researchers at Duke University show that stents do not reduce mortality. Instead, what stents seem to reduce the need for is...future stents. Stents, which have only been arond for eleven years, are inserted into blocked arteries to prop the open. However, physicians are not following through with prescriptions that will keep the arterties from becoming blocked again. So, the arteries with stents remain open, but what about the other arteries? My dad had several stents inserted over the summer. I think I need to go make a phone call. Are you taking medications to keep your arteries from clogging further, after stents?
