Intensive care units are the temporary homes for the sickest, most medically fragile patients in any hospital: those hooked up to ventilators, or suffering from traumatic brain or spinal cord injuries, or terminal diseases. Only 20 of these patients can be accommodated in Sunnybrook's critical care unit (CRCU). Tanya Talaga looks closer.
