Nothing highlights the cultural difference between Western and Eastern Canada more than the menial task of shopping for groceries. In the east, chains such as Loblaw Cos. Ltd. and Metro Inc. are girding for the inevitable price wars with Wal-Mart Canada Corp.'s new superstores. Meanwhile, here in British Columbia, the biggest trend involves paying at least 30 per cent more at the checkout -- all because the products are certified ''organic.''
