New Resuscitation Approach Better Than CPR For Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest

New data show that in cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, interrupting chest compressions for anything -- including mouth-to-mouth ventilations -- appears to be detrimental. Cardiocerebral Resuscitation, a new, chest-compression-only approach developed at the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center, improved survival rates by 300 percent and enhances bystanders' willingness to perform CPR.
