Patel's patients demands fresh Bundaberg inquiry
6th Sep 2005, 08:41 GMT
Former patients of Dr Jayant Patel have decided they want a new commission of inquiry rather than an attempt to reinstate the inquiry that has been shut down by the Supreme Court. A group of patients met last night to consider their position after the Supreme Court disqualified inquiry commissioner Tony Morris for ostensible bias toward two key witnesses. Queensland Premier Peter Beattie, who has set up a six-point plan to finish the work of the inquiry, says he will pay for independent legal advice on the prospect of the appeal against the Supreme Court ruling.
