Mars could have supported life 4.6 billion years ago

WASHINGTON - The cold, dry climate prevailing on Mars had its origins about 3.5 billion years ago, when the Red Planet was moist, new research has suggested. Reporting in Friday's issue of the journal Science, the international team of scientists says that Mars has evolved through three distinct eras.
