Mitchell to lead probe into Bonds steroid abuse allegations
30th Mar 2006, 22:26 GMT
NEW YORK - Former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell will lead an investigation into the allegations of steroid abuse by Barry Bonds and other players in Major League Baseball. Performance enhancing drugs were only banned after the 2002 season and Bonds has vehemently denied claims that he knowingly used such drugs. But the whole issue has snowballed in recent times and MLB has come under increasing pressure to enquire into abuse allegations between 1998 and 2002.
