Ford may use factories as security to borrow cash

DEARBORN, Mich. - Ford Motor is mulling a move to offer its factories as security to lenders in order to increase its cash reserves to make up for the massive losses being reported every quarter. Ford said it was considering such a move after reporting a whooping $5.8 billion loss in the third quarter of 2006.
