Venezuela: GDP
17th Nov 2006, 07:42 GMT
The Venezuelan economy expanded faster than expected in the third quarter, led by very strong domestic demand growth. Indeed, economic growth (as measured by GDP) grew 10.2% y/y in the third quarter, a similar pace than in the previous two quarters (revised figures). Thus, the economy has now expanded for 12 consecutive quarters, making this expansion one of the longest in recent memory. GDP grew 10.2% y/y in the first nine months of 2006, mostly unchanged from the same period a year ago.
