Medical Ship's Work "Life-Changing," State's Hughes Says

"Medical diplomacy" is among the most effective ways to reach out to the world, U.S. Under Secretary of State for Diplomacy and Public Affairs Karen Hughes says. In remarks on the progress of the U.S. Navy hospital ship Mercy, Hughes commends the members of the Navy and civilian volunteers who have helped provide medical services world-wide. The Mercy's work is life-saving and life-changing, Hughes says, and its work represents the best of Americans.
