Nearly a decade after his fiction debut, the National Book Award winner “Cold Mountain,” Charles Frazier returns with his long-awaited second novel. Set once again in the mountains of North Carolina, “Thirteen Moons,” follows the long and event-filled life of Will Cooper. He begins his story as a 12-year-old “bound” boy, sent off with a horse, a key, and a map to run a trading post on the edge of the Cherokee nation. Ninety years later, he looks back on a life of wealth, destitution, triumphs, disappointments, as well as the illusive love of one special woman.
