14th Sep 2005, 02:08 GMT
For the second consecutive season, the Carolina Panthers will have to do without All-Pro defensive tackle Kris Jenkins for the majority of the year. The standout lineman, who missed the final 12 games of 2004 with a left shoulder injury, has been declared out for the remainder of this season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's season-opening defeat to New Orleans.
