Relatives of women who carry a damaged version of the CHEK2 gene and have cancer in both breasts have a substantially higher lifetime risk of breast cancer than those related to non-carriers, according to a study in this week's issue of The Lancet. Women who have a faulty version of the CHEK2 gene called CHEK2*1100delC have double the chance of developing breast cancer when compared with non-carriers... click link for more info.
