142 Killed in Polk Crashes in 2004

LAKELAND -- Last year, 142 people were killed in traffic accidents in Polk County, the deadliest year on record, and a 22 percent jump from the number of deaths the year before, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. In 2003, 116 people died on Polk roads.
