16th Dec 2005, 01:20 GMT
Tornado-like "micro-burst" ripped trees out of the ground, flooded houses and destroyed a $20,000 crop in a matter of minutes in the Heddon Bush area on Wednesday afternoon. Farmers and others in the area 20km north-west of Winton were reflecting yesterday on a frightening experience. 45South Weather Services forecaster Andy Fraser said it was probably a micro-burst of wind and hail during a very active thunderstorm. source:Southland Times
