It was hard to feel like a lady in yesterday's scorching heat. But femininity ruled the runways, interpreted in very different ways. The pop-art feel at Phi was playful and cute, while J. Mendel's diamonds in the rough wore textural togs with unfinished edges. Zac Posen's girls smiled down the runway in easy, breezy dresses. Vera Wang's women looked like they had just stepped off the prairie and Calvin Klein's ladies were unconstrained and dreamy, as though wandering about in their nighties.
